Everything on The Acute Atlas is educational and guidelines-based. It is not medical advice, it is not a care plan, and it is not a substitute for your institution's policy, your provider's orders, or your own clinical judgment.
Practice varies by unit, by hospital and by patient. Where a lesson gives a number, that number is a reference point from the literature, not an order. Always follow your facility's protocols and work within your license. If something here contradicts your policy, your policy wins.
Nothing here creates a nurse-patient, provider-patient or professional relationship of any kind. If you are looking at a real patient right now, escalate to a human on your unit rather than to a website.
Accuracy, and what happens when it's wrong
Every claim is sourced and independently checked before a lesson is recorded, and guideline-dependent numbers are confirmed against a second source. Medicine still moves. A lesson reflects the evidence at the time it was made, and older lessons can go out of date.

The Acute Atlas is an independent educational project produced by Sean, a registered nurse, in a personal capacity.
It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced on behalf of any employer, hospital, health system, university or professional body. Nothing here represents the views of any employer. No patient information appears anywhere on this site or in any lesson — clinical scenarios are constructed for teaching and do not describe real people.
